Vasilisa the Girl

I lead an idle life, thanks to my doll. My mother gave her to me before she died. She told me to give the doll something to eat. Then I could tell her all my troubles, and she would give me advice.

I have had many troubles because my stepsisters hate me and put me to work like a slave, but I save food for my doll and I feed her at night. In the morning, she does my chores while I rest in the shade, and she weeds the garden while I pick flowers. It seems that I am doing the work, but it’s the doll who brings in the water and lights the stove!
