"Here is the rose you asked for," said my father, giving me the flower. "Little do you know the cost."
I soon discovered the cost. My father had taken it from the garden of a Beast who wanted one of his daughters in exchange. If none of us would go, then he must go, or the Beast would come for him. My brothers were all set to go and kill the Beast and my sisters were furious at me for putting everyone in this position with my high-minded request for a rose.
I soon put the matter to rest. I had asked for the rose, and I would pay for it.
