WonderLit FAQ
Can I randomly choose the chapters I want to do?
Overall the courses have been set up to guide you through a process, but if you’re in a sampling mode, you could choose the order of your chapters in The Story Tour.
Once you get into The Otherworld Journey, though, it is best to stay on the path because you’ll get the most out of the course by allowing one chapter to build on the next. You’ll also avoid any potential of becoming confused along the way.
Can I go through the courses to learn your approach without doing any of the exercises?
Yes, actually you can!
If you want to see how WonderLit is done and you don’t want to do the exercises, or you would prefer to get the big picture before diving in, you can read the exercise questions, watch the videos, and open the “toggle boxes.”
All my own examples, drawings, and personal connections are safely tucked away in these virtual drawers. The next best thing to walking into your own story would be to walk alongside mine!
Will you be providing a way for me to share some of my WonderLit writings?
This is something that we’re looking into. People have done some amazing writing in WonderLit and we’re considering ways to share those writings. We might, for example, have a section on the site called “WonderLit by Others” and feature some of the writings you send in. If you have suggestions, or you have a piece you would like to submit, please drop me (Michelle) a line on the contact page.
Can WonderLit help me to write my own story or memoir?
Yes, it can. WonderLit is a way into your own story and the wisdom of your own lived experience, so it’s a great way of knowing what your story is. Some people who have done the course have gone on to write their own memoirs. The important thing is to allow your mythic imagination to inform you for the duration of the course you choose, and then to see where your writings lead you.

How do I refine my search for keywords in the Story Finder?
When using the Search function of the WonderLit Story Finder, you may notice that the search results will include all words containing your search word. For instance, if you enter “cat”, results will include stories which contain words such as “catches” and “locate” because both contain the letters “cat”.
You can narrow your search by simply adding a space at the beginning or at the end of your search word. In our example, by adding a space at the end of “cat” and searching for “cat “, the search result will only include stories where the letters “cat” are found and are immediately followed by a space.
Keep in mind that if there’s a period at the end of a word (eg. “cat.”) the word will not be reported in the results.
What do I do if my WonderLit pages are loading too slowly?
We have noticed that the Safari browser sometimes fails to load pages, or loads them very slowly. If that is happening, please use another browser such as Chrome.
