Ah, I could write volumes about what it was like to go for three years without washing, combing my hair, or shaving my beard. I became a pariah! Little did anyone know that in my purse I possessed all the gold I desired.

It was a good experience to be rich and poor at the same time. It made me a truly fortunate man.
